Student Wiki’s

Get to know your school’s Wiki. Most offer a wealth of updated information on everything from sports and socials to important dates and deadlines. This is a site created by your school to keep you in touch and up-to-date and it is a great source of information. It is also a great place to interact with other people in the school. Student Wiki’s are there for socializing but they are also there to hook students up with discussion boards and groups that are relevant to his or her study. It is a completely interactive site that allows you to get online and discuss topics, get to know people and even complete projects together. Most student Wikis also connect students with any discounts or offers being made to the school’s students from outside sources, like software developers or near by eating establishments. Job boards and accommodation opportunities are also common.

More recently a number of Wiki sites have come online that offer students the chance to engage with people in the same field of study from different schools. These sites seek to make academic research more readily available to a wider population. Academics often share summaries of research online and as long as they are not copied word for word it is fair use.
