Horatio Alger Wyoming Scholarship Program

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at this program.

You must be a graduating high school senior, living in our state, who can demonstrate financial need. You must have a history of academic achievement, with at least a 2.0 GPA. Depth of character and your commitment to community service are also deciding factors. To apply you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript, a letter of support, and an income statement. The scholarship may be used for full-time undergraduate study at accredited universities and colleges in the United States. There are multiple awards, each in the amount of $5,000. American Legion Wyoming E.A. Blackmore Memorial Scholarship

Do you have a parent or grandparent who is an active member of the American Legion? If you do, and you can prove your need for financial assistance to continue your education on into college, as well as a good academic record ranking in the top 20% of your graduating class, you might be interested in this scholarship. To apply you will need to submit letters of recommendation, your transcript, proof of eligibility, a resume and a recent photo. The award is in the amount of $1,000 and may be used at any college or university. If you would like additional information, go to www.wylegion.org.

Robert C. Byrd Wyoming Honors Scholarship

Each year outstanding students in our state receive these renewable awards, each in the amount of $1,500. If you have a GPA of at least 3.8, excellent SAT/ACT scores, strength of character and proven leadership abilities, you should apply for one of these. In addition to the appropriate application you will need to submit letters of recommendation, transcript, test scores, and record of community service. If you would like to be considered for this prestigious award, contact your high school guidance counselor. You will need to be nominated by your counselor or high school principal in order to be considered. Go see them today!!!

Alert Scholarship

Do you write well? Then this might be right up your alley. You will need to have a grade point of at least 2.5 in order to participate in the essay contest which is the basis for selection of the winners of these awards. Sixteen scholarships will be given, each in the amount of $500. Subject for the essay is drug and alcohol abuse. If you would like to participate, contact Sylvia Rix, co-owner, 208-375-7911.

Hathaway Scholarships

The University of Wyoming has established multiple scholarships in the name of Wyoming past Governor Stan Hathaway. Funds from these awards may be used at UW or at Wyoming Community College.
