Nevada Scholarships and Grants

American Legion Silver Eagle Indian Scholarship

If you are a child or grandchild of an American Indian veteran of the U.S. military, you may be qualified to receive this scholarship awarded by the American Legion of Nevada Auxiliary. It is in the amount of $200, to be used at an accredited college or university. If you would like more information, contact:

Carl N. & Margaret Karcher Founders

This scholarship is directed toward a high school senior who is a resident of, among other states, Nevada. Funds provided are to be utilized at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university. There is no major field of study specified for this award, and, if selected you will receive $1,000. If are in the immediate family of an employee of Carl’s Jr. Restaurants, or one of its affiliates, you are ineligible for this scholarship. Nevada Robert C. Byrd Honors

You have worked hard and have shown consistently high scholastic achievement! Now, due to that hard work, you may qualify for this prestigious scholarship. You must be a Nevada High School Scholar and reside in the state. Scholastically, you must have a minimum of 3.5 GPA, 1100 on your SAT or 25 on your ACT. Award is renewable for up to four years, with an initial amount of $1,500 per year. Those selected for this scholarship may attend any accredited college or university anywhere in the United States. An application may be obtained by requesting one on line: www.doe.nv.gov.

Nevada Student Incentive Grant

If you are a high school senior living in Nevada, and can demonstrate need for financial assistance, you might qualify for this grant. Your first step is to go on line to www.fsfsa.ed.gov, and complete the free application, the results of which are required with your application. If you would like more information, contact the financial aid office at your chosen college or university, and go on line to www.doe.nv.gov.

President’s Scholarship and Junior Scholarship

This scholarship ranges in amount from $100 to $300, and is to be utilized at an accredited college or university. To apply, you must be a resident of Nevada. If you would like further information, contact:

Native American Leadership in Education

If you are at least one-quarter Native American and are an enrolled member of a federally recognized, state- recognized, or terminated tribe, you are half way toward applying for this scholarship. If teaching is what you’ve always dreamed of, then you are three-quarters there. If you have demonstrated consistently high academic achievement and depth of character, are interested in community service, and are serious about your future, you’re there! In order to apply, you must submit the application along with letters of recommendation, an essay, transcript, and proof of eligibility.
