American Legion

This is a scholarship which can be used for undergraduate study in any accredited college or university. To qualify you or a parent must be a member or participant of an American Legion Unit residing in Idaho. All children and/or grandchildren of members are also eligible. Horatio Alger

If you are a high school senior who has already faced and overcome great obstacles in your life, you need to take a closer look at this program.

Other requirements include Idaho residency and that you attend high school in Benevah, Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai or Latahor Shoshone counties; that you be able to demonstrate financial need; that you have a history of academic achievement; that you have displayed depth of character; and, that you are service orientated. To apply you will need to submit an essay, copy of your transcript, a letter of support, and an income statement. The scholarship may be used for full-time undergrad study at the following 4-year universities: University of Idaho, North Idaho College, and Lewis-Clark State College (Coeur d’Alene or Lewiston). Grow Your Own Teacher Scholarship Program

If you can imagine yourself in front of a classroom doing the teaching, you need to read this one! This scholarship is available for undergrad study at Boise State University, Idaho State, Lewis-Clark College, and the College of Southern Idaho. This program was established to help students become bilingual education, ESL, and Native American teachers. Award is for $3,000. Idaho Governor’s Cup

If you would like a renewable $3,000 scholarship that you can use at Idaho colleges and universities, that has no specific major listed – this is for you! Eligibility requirements include that you must be a high school senior, reside in Idaho, have demonstrated continuous academic achievement with a GPA of at least 2.8, contributed to your community by volunteering, and proven that you have leadership qualities. Application will require letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, SAT/ACT scores, along with documentation of volunteer work, leadership and public service. Robert R. Lee Category A Promise Scholarship

This is a unique scholarship targeting outstanding students. It can be used for full-time study at any Idaho state-funded colleges or universities. Eligible students are high school students who reside in Idaho, who have a minimum 28 ACT score and 3.5 GPA, and are in the top 10% of their graduating class. Treacy Company

For this one, you must be able to prove that there is a need for financial assistance; be a resident of Idaho, Montana or North Dakota; have proven leadership abilities; and, have shown a seriousness of purpose and service orientation in the past. The award is in the amount of $1,000 and is renewable. Application requires transcript, letter stating your reasons for applying, including personal information. Idaho Education Incentive Loan Forgiveness Program

This is a renewable student loan that may be forgiven if you fulfill their specific requirements after graduation. Awarded monies may be used in Idaho public universities or colleges. Applicant must be a Idaho resident interested in majoring in education or nursing, and must work in Idaho for two years after graduation.
